1. Policy Statement and Purpose

This policy demonstrates the AGhad Training Institute’s (GTI) commitment to provide training services that caters to individual needs of learners. This reflects fair practice in provision of training qualifications.

2. Policy Purpose

Some learners enrolled in an existing program may find difficulty in completing a qualification to attain the full certificate. If this happens, a learner might have completed sufficient training credits on a lower certificate, therefore, a learner can be given an exit award corresponding to the completed training attended.

This policy ensures that learners will get the opportunity to continue on the qualification when all condition of the learner are settled and no repetition of courses will be made. 

3. Application and Scope

The policy is applicable to all GTI trainees enrolled in a program that consists of multiple course credit requirements. It is not applicable to learners terminated from the institute on disciplinary grounds.

It is applicable only when a learner has completed a number of course leading to a full program qualification.

4. What is Expected

This policy helps GTI meet the following external requirements of:

  • Education and Training Quality Authority (BQA), Bahrain
  • Directorate of Institutes Affairs, Bahrain Ministry of Labor

5. Definitions

  • Exit Award – a course credit which is an alternate from obtaining a full program qualification
  • Program Qualification- a program in which a learner is enrolled that is consisting of multiple course/subjects

6. Policy General Condition

  • Exit award may only be given if the learner is enrolled on a program that is consisting of multiple course credit to attain a full program certification.
  • Learners need to apply for the exit award
  • Learners will only be eligible for an exit award if 50% of the required courses, in a full program qualification, have been successfully completed.
  • The exit award validity is valid for 1 year only, hence, learner may chose to return to the institute within the period of 1 year to reactivate the continuing of the appropriate qualification.
  • All exit award given to the learner will undergo a credit transfer verification before being credited to the appropriate qualification.

7. Responsibilities

  • Learners – learners need to fill up an Exit Award Request Form
  • Administrative Staff – Ensures that the Exit award Request Form is properly filled up and signed. Then submit the form to the program head.
  • Programme Head – evaluates the exit award request and recommend the credits to be issued. Then submit it to the general manager for approval.
  • General Manager – verify recommended credits to be issued and issue the final approval.

Next Review Date: December 2024 or earlier if any changes to legislation or the external environment require it.
