Summary

Attendance in class, participation and group work are an important means of learning and in many classes is essential to the training objectives of the course, problem and practical learning, learning success and reinforces the strategic mission of GTI.

Upon enrolling in a course or a programme at GTI learners must have taken into account work, family, religious and all other commitments and are able to attend all scheduled classes.

GTI recognises the significant subsidisation of fees, and that the investment learners and their sponsors make when a trainee enrols in a course and believes that, as a responsible institute, it has a duty of care to monitor attendance, and to act on non-attendance, so that learners can be supported to complete their programme of training.   • The purpose of this policy is to ensure that programmes meet the needs of the target audience, both the needs of trainees and the needs of potential employers, both in the government and private sectors.
  • The policy aims to establish rigorous processes to design new programmes to ensure that they meet the standards established by government agencies and the relevant professional occupational bodies, where applicable.
  • The policy aims to ensure the continued relevance of programmes with changing sector needs, through a system of regular stakeholder evaluations as well as more extensive periodic programme review.
  • GTI will ensure that programmes and their components are well-structured to scaffold learning development towards the achievement of the knowledge, skills and levels of understanding required by those working in the target industry sector. Credit accumulation is the process of gathering credit for learning towards the completion of a qualification or programme. Credit accumulation may occur within a programme of study, across an institution, and among institutions. Credit transfer refers to situations where awarding of credits goes beyond programmes or institutions. Summary

This Quality Assurance Manual describes GTI’s Quality Philosophy and how, through the Quality Assurance Model adopted, employees can contribute to GTI achieving its vision to be a center of excellence by providing market-driven training that is relevant and support and service functions that are appropriate to identified trainee needs. The information in this Quality Assurance Manual will also give our stakeholders confidence that GTI has in place a robust system of Quality Assurance.

In alignment with GTI’s market-driven and learner-centered approach to training, “Quality” is defined at GTI as “fit for purpose”. Quality is monitored through a Quality Monitoring policy (T/QA/001) and a Quality Assurance Team (QAT).

GTI’s Quality Assurance Model has two parts, firstly, an internal Quality Management System (QMS) comprising policies and procedures and, secondly, an Evaluation and Audit Cycle that maintains standards as well as leading to continuous improvement in keeping with GTI’s vision to become a center of excellence in training for Bahrain.

The QMS seeks to realize continuous improvement in all facets of GTI’s work through a culture of challenge and reflection. The company’s success does not simply rest on whether processes are followed: it is the result of each individual staff member’s effort and commitment. Policy Statement

  • The purpose of this policy is to ensure that informed decisions are made with respect to GTI’s operations by appropriately managing risks. The policy provides guidance on how to identify, avoid and/or mitigate any risks that might affect GTI’s business continuity or its ongoing sustainability.
  • GTI recognises that risk management is essential in effective management practice and therefore, this aspect is considered as an integral part when planning training as well as all the other functions and activities that GTI is involved in.
  • GTI will ensure that risk is identified and managed in a planned way through an annual quality monitoring procedure linked to GTI’s institutional evaluation in order to minimize the frequency and impact of any risks.

  • The purpose of this policy is to ensure that GTI’s attendance, assessment, and certification records, and any other records required for compliance with regulatory bodies, are accurately and securely maintained to support operational, legal, audit and academic needs until their disposal in accordance with the Record Disposal Process (RDP).
  • GTI aims to formalize arrangements for the security of documents and records required by the BQA, MoLSD, and any awarding or funding bodies. GTI will ensure the protection and integrity of documents (hard and soft copies), including attendance records, assessment documents and materials and learners’ assessment records, considering programme delivery modes.

Special needs are education requirements resulting from experiencing learning difficulties and/or having physical, intellectual, social, or emotional capabilities that restrict or hinder the capacity of a trainee to participate in or benefit from education and training.
  • GTI’s admission and access policy aims to ensure that trainees of determination are given every opportunity to access the programmes best suited to their training needs, without fear of discrimination. This policy follows on, endeavouring to help those trainees with identified special needs to take a full and active part in both the training and social activities associated with programmes offered by GTI.
  • This policy aims to ensure that GTI makes the necessary provision to facilitate effective teaching, learning and assessment for any trainee with identified special needs, while recognizing that no two disabilities are exactly alike, and that people experience disability effects in different ways.   • GTI aims to offer a purposeful, transformative, and inclusive teaching and learner experience to help trainees achieve their ambitions and career goals.
  • GTI will ensure that training is based on an Assess-Plan-Teach approach that starts with assessing trainees needs. Trainers will plan engaging learning experiences to develop trainees’ knowledge, understanding, skills and abilities to meet the standards expected by a particular occupation or the identified skills gaps required by the labour market. Purpose

The main purpose of QAT is to monitor and plan to ensure that quality is maintained to the standards specified by the Bahrain Qualifications and Quality Assurance Authority for Training and Education (BQA) Directorate of Vocational Review (DVR) Review Framework and Guidance and the Directorate of National Framework Operations (DFO) Institutional Listing Standards, and the standards required of the awarding bodies for the qualifications that GTI offers.
